How to use this page
  1. Pick the state and jurisdiction. The jurisdiction list reloads for whichever state you choose.
  2. Enter the address, or choose the district yourself. An address is matched to its parcel and the zoning district is read from the jurisdiction's own map, so you do not have to know it.
  3. Fill in what you know about the project. Lot area, lot width, setbacks, height. Anything left blank is reported as not entered rather than guessed.
  4. Click Check compliance. Results are grouped by subject, and each one shows the ordinance section and the date that version took effect.
  5. Start at the top. The summary states what to change and by how much. Open the groups below it for the full requirement and the citation.
Worked example. Choose Illinois, then Village of Westmont. Enter 44 N Cass Ave, Westmont IL, which resolves to district R-1. Leave the dimensions at the values the parcel returns and click Check compliance.
